Shoppers can now discover unique items and help transform ideas into reality by pre-ordering items from designers' projects!

Ling Cai and Vicky Wu were introduced in 2009 through a mutual friend. At the time, Ling - a Hong Kong "local" -had just returned from New York to continue working in fashion, and Vicky - a New York native - had just relocated to Hong Kong for investment banking. Surprisingly, the two clicked instantly and soon discovered they had interned at the same fashion magazine in New York a few years back, missing each other only by a matter of days.

The pair's mutual appreciation for unique pieces inspired them to find a way to support emerging designers. Shared frustration over finding affordable items that weren't mass produced also prompted them to brainstorm solutions to address this problem.

Over hundreds of emails, coffee sessions and sleepless nights, they came up with ZAOZAO. Within a week, both girls quit their jobs to dedicate their energy to creating a platform that could help turn designers’ dreams into a reality, one design at a time.

"ZAO" is a play on the Mandarin words "early", "discover" and "make". Through early discovery and subsequent production, ZAOZAO transforms emerging designers' ideas into reality.
