ZAOZAO Pops Up in Seoul!

Heading to Seoul to curate a jewelry pop-up corner for Level 5, a retail shop in Seoul that showcases the best emerging Korean clothing designers.

Been wanting to share this exciting piece of news but had to keep it under wraps as we were in discussion mode for a few months. We were invited by Level 5, a retailer in the ultra hip neighborhood of Myeongdong, to curate a jewelry pop-up corner this fall. Level 5 showcases dozens of Seoul’s best emerging clothing designers, including past participants of Project Runway Korea, in individual concept shops on the same retail floor. I was blown away by the variety, quality and workmanship of the designs when I first visited Level 5 last October. For someone who frequents fast fashions chains, it was such a breath of fresh air to be able to shop pieces I knew no one else would have, without breaking the bank. Naturally, I was thrilled when I learnt of this opportunity to collaborate and give Seoul shoppers a taste of what ZAOZAO has to offer.

Hello Taipei

Heading to Taipei from Singapore Changi Airport.

Taipei bound.

Met our Taiwanese photographer yesterday right after I checked into my hotel. Gave him a preview of our site, told him what kind of photos we need and went over our three day itinerary together. We ended up revising most of the itinerary, adding attractions that are not the most popular tourist attractions, but would photograph a lot better.

Mid-Autumn Madness

Mong Kong Street Signage

Street signage in Mong Kong.

I was surprised I was able to schedule a full day of meetings today as it’s a public holiday. It’s a three day weekend and most people celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival with their families. This festival is considered to be one of the most important holiday traditions and celebrates three fundamental concepts: family gatherings, thanksgiving and prayers. No wonder my mom wasn’t thrilled when I forgot and didn’t want to go out to dinner with her… Oops.

The New Normal

ZAOZAO booth at K11.

Stealth mode: Stalking passerby’s at our booth in K11 Select.

By normal I mean having a nonexistent social life. I was fast asleep before midnight yesterday (was a Friday night but whatever). Between jet lag and being on the go 24/7, I just don’t have enough energy left in me to socialize. Prefer to workout or adopt a comatose position in bed. Met a Taiwanese designer this morning for breakfast at a local eatery called Capital Cafe (order the milk tea and the Hong Kong-style French toast with creamy scrambled eggs and cheese…or black truffle if you’re fancy like that). After introducing our new site to her, we checked out a jewelry fair at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre before grabbing cupcakes at Sift and juice at Classified (both at Star Street). Sat for 10 minutes before jetting off to meet two other designers in Tsim Sha Tsui. Also touched based with the videographer we want to work with. Showed him some videos we liked and bounced ideas off each other for a bit. Ended the work day (just kidding there is no end) by checking out our booth at K11!

The Dark Side

Pale Pink Valentino Studded Kitten Heels

Studded affair. Putting my best foot forward for my interview with Jessica Magazine.

Today was one of those manic days where I had to drag myself around Hong Kong for various meetings. Started the day with an interview and photo shoot with Jessica Magazine at our old co-working space in Tin Hau, followed by a catch up session with our ever supportive lawyer at Clipper Lounge in Mandarin Oriental. I then met with a designer in The One, a shopping mall in Tsim Sha Tsui, before rushing to City Plaza in Tai Koo Shing for a meeting with a jewelry designer I had my eyes on for a while.
