EMI MATSUSHIMA

A citizen of the world, half German half Japanese Emi Matsushima has lived in and traveled to dozens of countries around the world. Previously the DJ booking manager at Zouk, Emi now resides in Berlin, Germany. See photos of her personal style and browse her 2 favorite items on ZAOZAO below!

Where did you grow up?

I was born in California USA. We moved a lot because of my dad's job. Every 2-4 years...The countries I grew up in are USA, Belgium, Germany, Spain, Japan.

How did you get into modeling?

I got into modeling out of my own interest. When I was 16 and living in Germany I sent a couple of photos to an agency in Tokyo and got a reply from them. So I went to Tokyo to try it out and that’s how it all started.

What was the most memorable gig you landed?

There are many. But shooting the TV commercial for Pepsi (Japan) in the Mohave desert in the US was pretty crazy.

You travel quite a bit. What is your favorite city and why?

I do travel a lot and there are still so many places on my list. But I have to say my favorite city has got to be Tokyo. There is no other city like it. I didn’t grow up in Tokyo so I only got to know Tokyo when I started to go there for modeling. The city has this sense of excitement to it. Like anything is possible.
