Tell us about yourself.
My name is Helena Chan, I'm half Swedish and Half Chinese. I'm currently living in Hong Kong, and I'm working as a professional model. I have always been an outdoorsy girl.
Some of my hobbies include hiking, diving, sailing and swimming. Hong Kong has
such an amazing country side, I take every chance I get to hike up to some of
my favorite beaches in Sai Kung
district.
I'm
also an animal lover. I love all animals, and I dedicate a lot of my time to
volunteer work at the SPCA. To me it's very fulfilling helping animals as I
have seen some horrific cases when pet owners have mistreated their dogs/cats,
and I have had to step in and rescue them. I have always believed that one life
is not worth any more or any less than another, and I believe that every life
should be treated with respect.
Describe yourself in 3 words.
Positive, happy and outgoing, as I always
try to look on the bright side of life.
How did you get into modeling?
I know it sounds cliché, but I
have
wanted
to be a model since I was a little girl. I have always loved
the camera whether I’m in front of it or behind it.
Starting off
as a model, you have to face a lot of rejection. I was rejected by every agency
in
Hong Kong
for a whole year, but I never gave up and eventually I
got
signed. After I was signed my model career really
kicked off. What I love most about my job is that I
get
to meet amazing people and I that I use my body to create art. I really
do have a passion for fashion, and I feel very lucky to be able to do
what I
love.
What was the most memorable gig you
landed?
The most memorable gig I
booked
would have to be an editorial spread for Baccarat Magazine. The theme was
'Dominatrix Women', and I was modeling Dior, Gucci, Fendi
and Escada.
It was a lot of fun as I had to embody a fierce, strong
slightly evil women, which I had never done before.

ReplyDeleteWe are glad you enjoyed it :)
DeleteI feel like she is very bitchy on the show
ReplyDeleteI think she just comes across as a bitch because she's strong-headed. She doesn't really talk to the other girls though (but that's just in the scenes the producers choose to show the viewers) and I think it's because she's quite different from all of them. She's focused on the competition more than everyone else.
DeleteWell said, "Every life should be treated with respect" but does she really do that? One of the girls wrote in the letter," Please do not be mean esp. towards Melissa." She appeared helpless and defended she isn't mean. Well, maybe she didn't do (in action) anything mean to Melissa but she definitely SAID mean things about her e.g "She eats non-stop" in a kind of expression (that she is disgusted by the quantity Melissa ate). Also, if she really gone through the path of being rejected by every agency in HK for a whole year, why didn't she perform in handling instructions and comments/criticisms by the photographer, fashion stylist or judges? A professional model should take any comments - good or bad with a good attitude instead of glaring and retorting, and she definitely has two drastic personalities/moods when being praised/criticised by the judges and I wonder why she love to tilt her head when things/comments doesn't go well for her? She also tear/cry too much and give a impression that she is a pampered girl. I feel she is overly focused on the competition that she became competitive and haughty without her realizing. However if this competition doesn't have Helena, it won't be this interesting and exciting for me to watch.
ReplyDeleteYes, you're right my friend! She is not really friendly to other girls inside of the house. She is so mean specially to Melissa. Maybe she feels ''INSECURE''. She is so lazy inside of the house, she's not doing the chores specially washing on her dishes .. What a kind of Professional Model is that? I thought be humble? she is a PLASTIC GIRL, i am so happy that Helena, kick of in the house.
DeleteIt's sad how she handled some situations. I understand that being in a modeling show is stressful especially when you have to live with a bunch of other girls who are your competition, but I was really disappointed because I was rooting for her from the very beginning. Nonetheless, I still love her.
ReplyDeleteI definitely identified her as the potential "bitch" of the house during the first episode. But that's why I liked her so much. I saw a fire in her that no one could touch. Sadly, it burnt her, too. She wanted it so much that she forgot how to behave like a model. She tried so hard to impress the judges and the clients that she kind of lost herself there. Also, I think her persona on the show was just an exaggerated version of herself. I truly believe that it was just a front. SO WHAT if that means she was insecure? It made her human and appealing to me. What I loved most about her was how strong she was with the hate she received/keeps receiving. You can tell that she works hard for what she wants and won't take shit from anyone who tells her that she doesn't deserve it.
Sometimes what is potrayed on the tv may not be the truth.
ReplyDeleteTv prog often scripts someone to play the "bitch" in the show to stir drama to push up the ratings.
Its just a show, dont take it too seriously.
Afterall, only ppl who knows her personally knows best about her real character.
