5 Minutes with Model Bonnie Chen

Perhaps you've seen her in the pages of Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Maybe you recognize her from her Clarins' beauty ads or maybe you've seen the Mercedes Benz commercial she filmed alongside George Clooney. Either way, there's no denying how far this beautiful China supermodel has come.

We spoke with Bonnie Chen to find out what it was like shooting for Harper's Bazaar China, where she shops and some of her favorite ZAOZAO items.

You were featured in Harper's Bazaar China's July edition this year. What was it like shooting in London?

It was a three day shoot around London. It was raining and sunny at the same time. We sneaked into the natural history museum and got the first permission ever to shoot in V&A. Brick lane is always my favorite part. I didn't expect that the story came out for 30 pages, which marked the longest for Bazaar China.

What's a typical workday like for you?

I wake up at 6 or 7am depends on when the jobs starts. I take the subway or taxi to the set in New York. We start having breakfast and getting to know each other a little bit. The shoot starts after hair and makeup and usually finishes before 6pm. I go to hot yoga afterwards if I am not too tired and then hang out with my friends for dinner.

How would you describe your style in 3 words?

Effortless, comfortable, balanced.

Who are some of your favorite fashion designers?

Tom Ford, Alber Ebaz, Phoebe Philo, but these are the designers. My favorite brands are Chloe, Celine and Valentino.

Where do you usually shop?

I shop everywhere in the world. Mostly vintage from New York, Milan, Paris and London. I love mixing high-end pieces with high street fashion. The place I go the most often is Madewell.
