New Beginnings

this is going to be quite the learning experience, blogging about the ins and outs of my time as a "fashionpreneur" (interesting term imo, still undecided whether i hate it or love it). in reality, expect stream-of-consciousness and occasional pearls of wisdom along this path ling and i embarked upon just over a month ago.  a lot of will seem painfully obvious, but don't most things in retrospect? if there is one lesson i have learned so far from the process of voluntarily enacting big life changes, it's that the rest of the world does NOT stop around you to let you comfortably adjust.

for example, with all the craziness of ZAOZAO happening, it is still entirely possible to get kicked out of your flat with less than a week to figure a new living arrangement, pack 3 years of your life into 15 boxes and get out.  it is possible for friends to let you down when you least expect, but also for people to come out of seemingly nowhere to save you during the 11th hour, for which i have been incredibly lucky and that much more grateful. while i had become accustomed to the pseudo-homeless/nomad lifestyle for a while, thanks to airbnb, the prospect of not having a mailing address felt somewhat existence-reducing. kinda scary.

but to put things in perspective: as i type this, ling is in the hospital saving a loved one's life by donating her bone marrow. this is apparently an excruciating process involving lots of tubes and needles, eeeek!! she has been incredibly brave and calm throughout the entire ordeal and i have nothing but respect for her. amazing.

"expect the unexpected" is one way to sum up our early days thus far...so cliche yet so true. regardless, am sincerely hoping that this narrative will provide guidance for others thinking about pursuing a similar path or at least elicit a few chuckles along the way. in any case, putting today's thoughts to rest for now. off to get ready for a designer lunch on my last full day in korea! will be updating instagram & twitter on the fly.
