Aside from impeccable taste and a love for fashion, the 3 are amongst a few fashion insiders that will be judging the latest collaboration between Parsons, PPR & The Fancy.
This years senior class of Parsons BFA Design program will be given the opportunity of a lifetime to win an expense-paid internship of up to $10,000 with one of PPR's 16 luxury brands.
The top 20 candidates will be nominated by Parsons to present their work to a panel of fashion judges. 5 finalists who best exemplify PPR's theme "Empowering Imagination" will be selected.
The students' work will be featured on The Fancy, a Pinterest-esque site that allows users to shop its highly visual social site, in June. The winning ready-to-wear and accessory looks will showcase their pieces at Barney's Madison store in September, and will be awarded an internship with the PPR brand of their choice. Some of the brands under the PPR umbrella include Gucci, Bottega Veneta, YSL, Sergio Rossi, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga. The partnership will be celebrated with a private event hosted by The Fancy during Fashion’s Night Out in September.
This new collaboration is genius. Not only will the students gain a lot of exposure across different online platforms, they will also have the opportunity to network, speak with fashion veterans who could provide them with valuable insight and guidance given their wealth of experience. The opportunity to choose which PPR luxury brand to intern with is a designers' dream come true! Hundreds and thousands of fashion design students trying to break into the fashion industry would kill for an opportunity like this. Good luck to Parsons senior class this year! Looking forward to seeing their work on The Fancy later this year.
